I would have to disagree with the statement in this article,"Redding is in northern California, which is generally the damper, cooler part of the state, but not this year. " After spending 14 years in Redding and many of a dry super hot summer, with mostly high 90 - 100 degree days with the occasional record heat for the nation... 114 - 122, Redding is not the cooler part of the state, but actually probably one of the hottest. What has to be remembered is that Redding is not in the mountains but at the base of where three ranges collide and air movement only comes in one direction. if you head north, east, or west about 30 mins. it gets drastically cooler as the elevation gains.. but not redding. I would recommend doing a bit more research.
