Back to the Great Lakes for our forecast this afternoon. What do we have in store on the west end of Lake Erie?
At 224PM, ET, Toledo was reporting a temperature of 79 degrees with a brisk northwest wind ahead of a line of thunderstorms that are just now crossing into Ohio from Michigan. One cluster of thunderstorms, with eyes on Defiance, was severe, but the storms should remain under that threshold as they move through the Toledo area in the next couple of hours. There is likely to be a bit of heavy rain as it moves through, and these continued breezy conditions, but things should return to pleasant fairly quickly.
This cold front is associated with an area of low pressure moving through eastern Canada, but a weak upper ridge is going to be sliding into Ontario overnight. Cooler, drier air will move into the eastern Great Lakes fro tomorrow, and will suppress moist flow into the area as the week begins. There will be a few mid level clouds across the region as a moisture rich flow is able to sneak from the Mississippi Delta into the western Great Lakes, but that moisture won’t reach the surface at Toledo.
