As is tradition with millions of Americans over the 4th of July weekend, we’re gonna be hitting the road as well with a 3-day road trip. This one will take us from Southern Jersey down into Texas for a visit to the Big D. 1,471 miles will be covered on this holiday excursion, so let’s see what Mother Nature has in store for us!
It’s a cloudy start to the day as we leave Vineland towards Philadelphia, then eventually turns towards the southwest. An area of low pressure shifting through the Virginia’s will quickly turn the trip into a soggy one, as showers and thunderstorms are expected over PA and MD as we continue our way down along I-95 to DC. Very fitting that we drive by Washington DC on the 4th of July, right?! Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue for the rest of the day as we cover I-81 past Harrisonburg and Roanoke before ending the day in Wytheville, VA.
The tail end of the boundary lingering from yesterday’s low pressure system continues to fester over the TN Valley. The start of the day should be dry, albeit cloudy, as we continue on I-81 towards Knoxville then head west on I-40. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be expected all the way from Knoxville to Memphis, where we end our second day.
There might be a couple lingering showers as we start the day heading towards Little Rock, but overall should be a dry morning as our southwest trek continues. Once we get past Little Rock, it should be dry and sunny as we push past TexArkana and eventually into Dallas. Time for some sweet tea!
