We’re going on a trek to the Plains. This is the time of year their weather can be all over the map. Which part of the map will it be this year.
At 354PM, CT, Lincoln was reporting a temperature of 51 degrees with clear skies. High pressure was building into the region with a weak wave moving into the Dakotas. A thermal ridge is expected to build into the area, thanks in part to the wave helping to transport some mid level warm air into the region.
There will be a converging jet structure developing over the Plains, which will lead to the mid level warming, but will prevent significant heating at the surface. It will also prevent moisture for reaching Lincoln through the weekend, despite the threat for some lee troughing and a surface southerly flow by late in the day on Easter. It should be fairly pleasant for the holiday weekend.
