A smothering batch of rain moved in to the northeastern Gulf Coast on Wednesday before it worked through south Georgia and into the Gulf Coast. The storm that never was in the northeast definitely left an impression on Mobile. It accomplished the remarkable task of pinning temperatures to a 2 degree range on Wednesday thanks to clouds and persistent rain, which eventually added up to a half inch. When the rain moved out, before sunrise on Thursday morning, things improved markedly for Mobile. Sunny skies, highs in the 60s and a deep sigh of relief. The rain lasted longer than most expected, which dropped forecast ratings a peg. The Weather Channel secured the top spot.
