A cold front moved through New York over the last couple of days, and in Utica, they received a total of .86 inches of precipitation. Getting a healthy dose of ground moisture at the end of the fall is important for next summer. Of course, it is the end of the season, because mixed in with the rain were a few reports of snow after 2AM. There weren’t any reports of accumulations that I could find in Utica, but down the road in Oneida County, there were reports of 4 inches of snow. It came down to who had the best temperature forecast for verification purposes, though, because even though there was more snow than we thought, everyone had a mention of it. The Weather Channel was just a hair better than everyone else at every verifying time and took down the top spot.
Actuals: Thursday – .54 inches of rain, High 57, Low 36
Friday – .32 inches of moisture (snow and rain), High 37, Low 28
