Snow slows the Appalachians

The snow storm that moved through the Mid Atlantic today will likely be remembered as a bust by a large segment of the population. Snow was expected to be at it's heaviest for the season from Washington to Philadelphia, and as time transpired, the models kept trending the system further and further south. You'll recall my forecast for Williamsport mentioned the chance for snow. As it turned out, snow only reached as far north as the south metro of Washington DC.
Make no mistake, however, the snow did hit. It just didn't hit the coast, where all the people. The snow slammed parts of Kentucky, as well as the Appalachians of Virginia and North Carolina. The big winner on snowfall totals was Covington, Virginia, who received 9.5 inches of snow.
Washington and Philadelphia were missed, but for this town of about 6000 people along the West Virginia border, they saw plenty of snow.
